Men are a proud, necessary, beautiful force of nature. In a time before the idea of the nation fell into disrepute, and the inhabitants with them, before borders were to be despised, before there were dozens of genders, before kids were routinely abandoned to soulless priestesses and priests in classrooms - before all that men fought for beauty and truth in every town. Before political correctness there was the man with his arm and his voice.
All can be grateful for his history, his fight for boundaries and borders in which the inner story of the family could prosper.
The final loss of men’s pride would be the final loss of the future.
The honoring of men and the masculine tradition is one of the two legs on which the future will stand. Men’s gentle deference and courtesy has led him to withdraw before the world’s refusal of masculine gifts. That retreat is on him and no one else.
The future includes the restoration of masculine strength. The boys need it, and the girls too. It’s standing to honor the love of all the women of the past who entrusted themselves to our protection and our willingness to continue the fight. It’s showing the boundary-protecting clarity and warriorship of men to defend against those who have lost the understanding that a deeper truth animates us. While blessing the proclivities of all, we can stand with women in holding the dynamic strength of the two-sex nature of humans.
Men’s timidity and reserve in holding the deepest respect for the best of our God-given nature, doesn’t serve us. The world needs our gifts. Not some abstract world but our partners, our families, our brothers, our kids and their kids. As surely as we need them, as surely as we need breath or water, we need men.
We need women too. The future is a new bond and covenant between women and men. It’s led by the many and the few who’ll settle for nothing less.
One without the other is less. The happiest people I've known were those who were in good relationship with their partners. Each had a chance to bring out the best in each other as well as each got to show up as their true selfs. A good recipie.
